5 Tips To Keeping Your Space Organise
1 ~Put It Away
Yes it is a simple tip. One I am sure you grow up hearing. I know that my mother always told me growing up “Put it away when your done with it. Then you will know where it is.” How true my mother was. If you take the time to put items you have finished using away as soon as you are done with them, then you are one step closer to maintaining an organised space. You will know where to find everything you need. It will take sometime to make this step a habit. But repetition creates good organisational Habit
2 ~ Colour Code or Label It.
That’s right. It’s time to bring out your Label Maker, Sticker Labels, Chalkboard Labels or your coloured textures and let you inner neat freak run wild. Do which ever organising system best suits you and your needs. It may sound crazy but if you are not the only one that uses the space, or you could need someone to fetch you something out of your space, having a system in place makes a big difference. Not only will labelling and colour coding help you to stay organised but it can also add a little decorative flare to your space. It will also help you become more productive, because the amount of time you are going to save when you are looking for the items you need will amaze you. The dream of finding everything you need quickly is really my friends. As long as you put things away as well.
3 ~ Do Not Aim For Perfection
Now that you have things the way you like them. Remember to try not to go into a crazy perfectionism mode. This mode will only result in stressful frustration, sabotaging yourself before you have even began. I am not saying you are going to fail in your new found organisation. You can have the dream space you have always wanted. You just need to realise that striving for perfection will only lead to disappointment. You just have to aim for the 85%-90% of clean and organised work space. Leave the perfectionism mode struggle to those with OCD.
4 ~ Don’t Be Afraid to Change The System
Changes in life are unavoidable. You may have found your perfect way to organise your space that works well, but in the future it may not work as well as you need it to. Or you system may simply not meet your needs. When this happen don’t be afraid to make changes to the system or try something new all together. This is the secret to staying as organised as possible that nobody ever seems to share. Being able to adapt, modify and change the organising system to suit the current needs of the space being used is such an important tip. So don’t be afraid. Be adventures and open minded. If your system isn’t working for you try something new that suits you.
5 ~ Everything Needs A Place
I can not stress this tip enough. Before you bring anything into your space. Stop and Think. Where are you going to put this item. If you bring in items just for the sake of putting it there because you can. Then eventually you are going to end up with a messy, cluttered, hard to use space. Some people use the out there recommend the one in one out rule to organising. This is also a great method but it may not work for you. This is why I love the everything has a place rule of organising. Before I buy anything at all, not only for my space, but for my home, I think about where I am going to put it. Ask yourself do you need it? Where will it go? Does it suit your needs? This will help you stop bringing in any unnecessary clutter and it may also save you some money in the process.
