It is the first month of the year, and now is the perfect time to get organised. Time to start fresh and learn from the mistakes of last year. We learn from where things went wrong and I will be the first to admit that I was not as organised as I had hoped. But for me failing is perfectly ok.
This year I have a base to work from. The systems I used didn’t work. The planner I was using just wasn’t suited to my needs. Instead of making simple changes to the systems I had in place, I just gave up. That is why I am going to share with you my tips that I will be using to be more organised in 2018.
So the question is, are you ready for my top tips to kick start your year of being Organised?

Get a good Personal Planner or use a get organisation system
Firstly to be organised you will need to find the right tools for the job that will suit your own need. Everyone is different, while I personally prefer a paper planner that can easily fit in my handbag. Others people might prefer an electric system. Such as apps that can be downloaded onto their phone or their phone calendar. Either way there are plenty of options out there to chose from. You just need to find the one that best suits you and your needs.
Set Your Goals
Goal setting is a great way to plan ahead. Think about what you want to achieve this year. Your goals can be anything from personal development to your career goals. Just write down what it is that you want to achieve this year and the steps you need to achieve those goals. Without making steps to get to your goals you, you may just find that you won’t achieve them.
Have a “to-do-list” Everyday
Every night before I go to bed, I grab my notebook from my bedside table and write down what I want/have to do the next day. I have my blog work plan, my cleaning tasks, my personal errands and phone calls I need to make. In the morning I will take my notebook and place it next to my kettle so that it is the first thing I see as I make my morning coffee. I can then read over the list as I wait for the kettle to boil and make a plan for the day. While this woks for me as I get up before my children, it may mot work for everyone else.
Have a Daily Cleaning Plan
Thanks to your daily to-do-list you will already have a daily cleaning plan written out. A cleaning plan needs to be consistent, because then it will become a routine. The easiest way to create a daily cleaning plan is to write down what cleaning task you do on which day. Try to do this for a one to two week period and you should see some sort of routine emerge by itself. Then you will need to refine it and add it to your to-do list.
Start Meal Planning
Meal planning consistently is one of my goals this year. I tries my hand at meal planning last year but I was not very consistent. When I was meal planning last year, it made tea time so much easier. I did not have to worry about what I had left in my cupboard to throw something together each night. I knew what we where having and when we were having it. It also made shopping each week/fortnight so much easier because I knew exactly what I need to buy. It help me to save a lot time and money.
Those are my tips to having a more organised 2018. It is important to keep in mind that if your systems are not working you can change them to help you stay on track. Instead of giving up when things stop working try to learn from your failures. I believe that failures are lesson and can help us learn, change and improve our lives for the better.
