Pregnancy. Its made out to be the most magical, beautiful nature thing in life that a woman can ever do. You hear all the hype about the beautiful pregnancy glow. How wonderful it is. But let me tell you its all just a crock of crap.
Four pregnancies I have been through to third trimester and I can tell you pregnancy had its good points but it was full of all this nasty crap that nobody every told me about until I went through it myself. Then I had people say “oh yeah, well that’s normal”. Well that nasty crap wasn’t part of the plan or told to me before. That is why I am going to share some of:

The Gross Things In Pregnancy Hardly Anyone Talks About
1 ~ You Will Properly Pee Your Pants
You heard me right. You will properly pee your pants at some pont during you pregnancy or come very close to it. When your pregnant everything gets squished to make room for your growing baby. Even your bladder. As the baby grows it will start to feel like your baby is dancing all over full bladder the moment you have a sip of water. And as you get bigger you get slower and wont be able to run to the toilet. So yer, you’re going to find that you tinkled in your pants every once in a while.
2 ~ Hello Acne
Your hormones are going to run ramped like they did when you were a teen. Wave hello to your much older looking pimple face, arms, back and bum. Yes you might get pimples on your bum. They are quite literally a pain in the bum
3 ~ You Will Get Nosebleeds
So before I got pregnant not one person ever told me that nosebleeds where a normal part of being pregnant. It can be a bigger problem in some women more than others. When your pregnant you have all this extra blood pumping its way around your body. The blood vessels in your nose can expand while you are pregnant. When you put both of these things together you have a recipe for a blood nose and lots of them. Just another gross part of pregnancy people forget to mention.
4 ~ You’re Going To Be Constipated
Now you might have heard this one. But did you now that constipation happens to about 50%of pregnant women. So if you’re suffering from constipation you are not alone. This is why doctors tell you to drink lots of water and eat plenty of fibre. It’s to help you do a poop more easily. So listen to your doctor on this one.
5 ~ There Is An Increase In Hair
When your pregnant your hormones might just give you beautiful hair with a glossy finish. I’m sure you have heard this one. But what you might not know is you the hair on your head is not the only place hair will grow. You might just find yourself reaching from that razor more often. All your body hair will go into over drive while pregnant.
6 ~ You Will Be Queen Farty-Bum
We have talked about wetting yourself and constipation so why not just add farting to the growing list of pregnancy grossness. You will be farting like crazy and sometimes it is unpredictable. All your lady like mannerisms are going to go out the window while your pregnant. Your little gas problem will only get worse as baby grows as there is less and less room. It might just happen loudly and without warning at the worst possible moment. Have your apologies ready for you farty problem. Your going to need them a lot.
7 ~ Varicose Veins
With extra blood pumping around your body during pregnancy. Your veins are put under extra pressure to move the blood around your body causing your veins to swell. It’s not uncommon to get varicose veins during pregnancy and in most cases they should disappear after pregnancy. Be prepared because in some case they might not, especially if it’s not your first pregnancy.
8 ~ Hemorrhoids
I mentioned constipation early, well unfortunately constipation and hemorrhoids go hand in hand. With all that extra blood circulating around your body during pregnancy even the veins in you anus will become swollen. As you push harder with your constipation you may just pop those swollen veins. They will be swollen and painful. To avoid this follow the constipation directions. Drink plenty of water and eat plenty of fibre to reduce constipation and limit your chance of getting hemorrhoids.
9 ~ You Will Snore Loudly
Pregnancy can cause a whole range of sleep problems. Snoring can be one of them. As your nasal passage swells and you add on some baby weight your snoring will increase. Its unavoidable but it can be reduced by trying to have a healthy pregnancy. You also try some nasal strips that open your nasal passage during sleep.
10 ~ You Will Sweat Like Crazy
There is no denying that when your pregnant your hormones go crazy. This can result in your body temperature turning into a rollercoaster. You will be hot then cold then hot again. The cycle seems never ending. When your body temperature is running high you are going to sweat and sweat a lot. You might even fi d it to be dripping off you and its all part of the pregnancy.
11 ~ You Will Smell
With sweat comes the smell. So you are going to smell and not matter how many showers or cans of deodorant you use, it wont stop the smell. Just try to manage it as best you can because it wont settle down until after your pregnancy.
12 ~ Your Gums Will Bleed
It is all the extra blood circulating your body causing trouble again. Some women were told this before for pregnancy but more didn’t know. You have to take extra care looking after your teeth and gums during pregnancy because your hormones are messing with your whole system. The veins in your gums swell as well making them more likely to bleed during your daily oral hygiene routine. Take a softer approach while brushing your teeth to reduce bleeding.
13 ~ You Might Get Itchy
If you are prone to having dry skin or eczema, you might find that your hormones may just aggravate your skin. So be prepared with your body lotions to help prevent and limit the amount skin irritation pregnancy may cause your already sensitive skin.
14 ~ Down There Will Swell
Back to the body swelling. Your lady parts are going to be no exception. With the baby growing in your uterus there is a lot of weight and blood in this area of your body. It will only increase as your baby grows and you might find you get a lovely pregnancy waddle happening. Thankfully your lady parts swelling will go away after baby has arrived and things should go back to normal in the six weeks after birth.
15~ You’re Going To Have Heartburn
This might be another symptom that is more spoken about during pregnancy but still some women are unaware until it happens to them. Heartburn can hit at anytime during a pregnancy, but is more likely to start late in the third trimester of pregnancy. It can be worse in some women more than others.
16 ~ You’re Going To Randomly Feel Sick
Morning sickness is a very talked about common symptom of pregnancy. You may be wondering why I have chosen to include in my list of grossness. Well morning sickness is not limited to the first trimester. It can hit at any minute of any day during your pregnancy and without any warning. I have heard stories of pregnant women who have been having a normal conversation with a friend or co-worker only to end up vomiting all over them. No warning what so ever.
I know this list may just be a lot to take in for those who are first time mums or thinking about starting a family. So I would like you to remember that everyone’s pregnancy is different and nobodies symptoms are the same. Some women may just breeze through their pregnancy with no problems at all, while others will struggle. Everyone’s journey is different and you wont know until you go though it yourself. While I have talked about a lot of the negative point of pregnancy and some are really gross, It shouldn’t put you off.
